Frequently Asked Questions
About ADHD & Neurodiversity Coaching
What is ADHD Coaching?
ADHD coaching is specialized support that helps you understand how your neurodivergent brain works and build a life that honors that. We work together to help you better understand yourself, build confidence, and create systems that support who you actually are.
How is neurodiversity coaching different from therapy?
Therapy typically focuses on healing past experiences and emotional wellness, while coaching is forward-focused. We work together to figure out what works for you and build from there, so you can stop forcing yourself into boxes that don't fit.
Do I need to have an ADHD diagnosis to work with you?
No formal diagnosis is required. Many of my clients are self-diagnosed or exploring whether they might be neurodivergent. What matters most is that you're struggling with executive function challenges and ready to build a life that works better for your brain.
Working with Melissa
What's your coaching approach?
I believe you're not broken—you just haven't found the right systems yet. My approach focuses on brain-based strategies, sustainable habits, and ending the burnout cycle. We also work together to uproot the limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns that keep you stuck. I help you build flexible structures that support your unique way of functioning while addressing the internal barriers that have been holding you back.
How long does coaching typically take?
Most clients work with me for 3-6 months, though some continue longer for ongoing support. The length depends on your goals and how quickly you want to implement changes. We'll discuss what feels right for you during our consultation.
What can I expect from our sessions?
Our sessions are collaborative and personalized. We might focus on practical tools one session, then explore what's really driving your choices the next. Sometimes what appears straightforward reveals deeper insights about your relationship with yourself. Each session addresses what you need most.
Practical Details
How do sessions work?
We meet via video call (Zoom) for 50-minute sessions. All sessions are confidential. I encourage you to bring your favorite notebook, pen, and calendar to each session. Having these tools handy helps you capture insights and schedule follow-up actions. If you opt in to session recording when signing your agreement, I'll send AI-generated summaries that capture key takeaways and next steps.
What if I miss a session or need to reschedule?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. I'm flexible for true emergencies, but consistent last-minute cancellations limit your progress. Showing up for yourself matters—you'll get out what you put in.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! Session packages can be split into multiple payments. My system automatically charges your card for each installment. We'll discuss the best structure during your consultation.
What's included in coaching?
Your coaching package includes regular sessions, email support between sessions, personalized resources and tools, session summaries, and access to my resource library of ADHD-friendly strategies.
Getting Started
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
The best way to find out is through a free Reset Call. We'll talk through your biggest challenges, what you've already tried, and what success might look like for you. I'll walk you through how coaching works, and we'll see if it feels like the right next step—no pressure.
How do I book a consultation?
Head to the Real Life Reset Page to submit a consultation request.
I personally review each request to ensure we're aligned before scheduling our call.
What should I do to prepare for coaching?
Nothing! Come as you are. Bring your challenges. Your frustrations. Your hope things can be different. Oh, and maybe grab a notebook and pen—trust me, you'll want to jot things down. I'll help you figure out the rest.
About Burnout & Executive Function
I'm constantly burned out. Can coaching help?
Yes! Burnout usually means you've been living in 'shoulds'—not in what actually works for you. We'll identify what's driving the burnout and examine what keeps you running on empty, so you can build something sustainable.
What if I've tried everything and nothing works?
I hear this a lot. Most approaches try to fix the 'problem' rather than understand the person. We'll explore what hasn't worked, but more importantly, we'll uncover the internal narratives and mental blocks that keep you from breaking through.
Can you help with time blindness and procrastination?
Yes! These are common executive function challenges that respond well to the right strategies. We'll work on external structure, time awareness tools, and task initiation techniques that work with your ADHD brain.
Still Have Questions?
Can I contact you before booking a consultation?
Of course! Feel free to reach out through the contact form if you have specific questions about whether coaching might be right for you.
Do you work with people outside the US?
I work with clients internationally via video calls. As long as we can find overlapping hours that work for both of us, geography isn't a barrier.
